"The Applied BioSystems 5500 QTRAP triple quadrupole linear ion trap hybrid mass spectrometerprovides the best quantitative and qualitative performance with UPLC capability available from an in-line Shimadzu Prominence system. It performs all the scan modes of the 4000 Q-TRAP and has a higher scan rate for more sensitive ion trap scan modes including MRM3 quantitation for analytes requiring greater sensitivity with high backgrounds. The system has a TurbroV ionization source with both electrospray and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization probes capable of positive and negative ionization mode. Sample analysis and instrument control will be conducted with Analyst software. The system also has LightSight™ Software that is excellent for finding drug metabolites. The software automatically creates highly optimized methods that improve metabolite detection by constructing compound specific multiple reaction monitoring-information dependent acquisition methods (pMRM-IDA) where the survey scan will provide MS/MS data for potential metabolites.
