  1. Resource Description
"Three of the MARC's research components (5, 6, and 8) include experiments with lines of mice bred to have special genetic traits. The animal core supports these components by purchasing, testing, breeding, maintaining, and distributing these animals within the center. The core will breed special mouse lines F1 and F2 that are descendents of C57BL/6J (B6) and DBA/2J (D2) inbred strains. For Components 5 and 6, the animal core will also produce independent sets of replicated mouse lines selected for high and low tendencies toward methamphetamine drinking and for high and low methamphetamine-induced sensitization. In addition, the core is developing new behavioral-testing procedures and maintaining a database that will track individual animals and post their trait data for all MARC investigators to utilize."
